Theme mode changes the interface, not the proxy
FlClash’s Light, Dark, and Auto options control the appearance of the application. They are not node-selection, routing, or TUN settings. If the app already opens normally, you can choose a mode inside it; you do not need a different subscription, a theme package, or a YAML edit.
This guide covers the maintained FlClash v0.8.99 stable release on Windows 11, for amd64 (x64) / arm64, using the English interface. The menu and behavior were checked against fixed-version source code and upstream test definitions, not by clicking through the Windows application. Do not substitute Clash Verge Rev’s appearance menus or those of another client.
Before changing anything, note whether Theme mode currently has Auto, Light, or Dark selected. The initial default in this version is Dark, not Auto; an existing configuration, a backup, or a previous choice may differ. A dark window alone does not establish that the app is following the system.
Open Theme from Tools and select Light or Dark
- Open Tools from the main window’s navigation. The layout adapts to the window size, so identify the entry by its label rather than assuming a fixed position.
- Under the Settings section, click Theme. Settings is a section heading on the Tools page, not another settings page to open. Theme mode is not a switch inside General.
- Find Theme mode on the theme page and click Light or Dark. Click the option directly; this does not open a dialog with a Save button.
- Confirm that the selected option and the interface appearance have changed, then return to normal use. You do not need to click Save, restart FlClash, or restart the proxy core. Leave Theme color, Pure black, and other appearance settings unchanged so that you can identify the effect of this one choice.
The selection updates the interface immediately, and the app saves preferences automatically. Continue using it normally rather than force-ending the process immediately afterward. Seeing the color change now and finding the same option selected after a normal reopening are two separate checks. You can return here after reopening to confirm the preference; one immediate color change is not a guarantee that saving has completed.
Auto follows the system, not a day-and-night schedule
| Option | Interface behavior | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Auto | Uses the light or dark app preference supplied by the operating system | You want FlClash to follow the Windows app theme |
| Light | Stays light regardless of the system’s light or dark preference | You want FlClash to remain light |
| Dark | Stays dark regardless of the system’s light or dark preference | You want FlClash to remain dark |
To follow the system, choose Auto in the same Theme mode control. It follows the system appearance preference; it does not schedule a light theme for daytime and a dark theme for nighttime. It also does not change the theme based on a webpage, wallpaper, or proxy node. Auto can correctly show a dark interface when that is the preference Windows currently supplies to the app.
If you want only FlClash to be dark while other Windows apps stay light, choose Dark directly. There is no need to change the overall Windows theme. If Auto looks different from what you expect, check the light or dark preference supplied to applications, not just the taskbar’s color. This guide does not change Windows settings or introduce a timed theme-switching script.
Dark is not the same as Pure black. Pure black is a separate setting on the theme page. Change only Theme mode here and keep your existing Pure black, Theme color, and other appearance preferences. A darker interface does not change the proxy exit, repair a connection, or guarantee faster networking.
Restore your previous mode without resetting configuration
To undo this change, open Tools, find Theme under the Settings section, and select the option you noted earlier in Theme mode. Choose Light if you previously kept the app light, Dark if you kept it dark, or Auto if you followed the system. Going back to the previous page does not undo a selection you have already clicked. You do not need to find a Cancel button or reset the whole application.
If the interface changes now but returns to its old appearance after a normal reopening, first confirm that you started the same copy of FlClash. Check the actual selected mode, then record the version, interface language, action sequence, and any settings-save error. Auto may itself change appearance when the system preference changes, so not every later color change is a failure to save.
If you cannot find these controls, check that you are using v0.8.99 and distinguish the English labels from Simplified Chinese ones. This version has no separate Traditional Chinese or Korean interface option; a localized website does not imply the app supports the same menu languages. Do not delete the configuration directory, reimport a subscription, or install an unfamiliar theme patch just to change the interface brightness.
