Why is there no tray speed switch on Windows?

The tray speed option mentioned in some guides is not available on every platform. Clash Verge Rev v2.5.7 has no tray speed switch on Windows: both its settings control and the background tray-speed task are limited to macOS. Moving the Windows tray icon out of the hidden-icons area will not add a numeric display. Do not reinstall the app or follow Mac-only instructions to look for this feature.

This guide covers the actively maintained Clash Verge Rev v2.5.7 official release on Windows 11, for x64 or ARM64, using the English interface. The steps were checked against the fixed-version source and official documentation, not by clicking through a Windows installation. The app must already be installed and able to open its main window. The original Clash Verge, Clash for Windows, and other clients are outside this guide’s scope.

If you want to see how quickly data is currently passing through the core, the built-in Home page provides those readings. It is not a persistent Windows taskbar speed monitor, and it does not require a third-party skin or configuration-file edits.

Read upload and download rates on Home

Open the main Clash Verge Rev window, select Home in the left sidebar, and find the Traffic Stats card. Keep the window visible while observing the readings. If the card is already there, read the figures directly; you do not need to enable another switch first.

Card labelWhat it representsNot the same as
Upload Speed / Download SpeedThe current rates reported by the core, with /s at the end of the unitNode latency or the node’s maximum bandwidth
Uploaded / DownloadedCumulative transfer amounts reported by the core, without /sYour remaining subscription allowance or provider’s bill

For example, the B in KB/s means bytes. The figure describes current transfers, not the result of a separate speed test. The card reads Mihomo’s /traffic data; it is not a meter for every network adapter on the computer. Do not assume that traffic which never enters this core is included.

Leave your network settings unchanged. Make an ordinary request in an application you have already confirmed uses this core, then observe the upload and download readings. A request that finishes quickly may change them only briefly. There is no need to download a large file, switch nodes, or enable TUN just to make the numbers move.

Restore a missing Traffic Stats card

The default Home layout includes Traffic Stats, but a previously saved custom layout may hide it. The control for restoring it is in the Home page’s title area, not the global Settings page in the sidebar.

  1. Stay on Home and click the gear button in its title area. Its tooltip is Home Settings.
  2. In the dialog, select Traffic Stats Card. Leave the other cards’ selections unchanged.
  3. Click Save. Selecting the checkbox alone does not submit the layout; clicking Cancel will not save this selection.
  4. Wait for the dialog to close normally, then confirm that Traffic Stats appears on Home. This change does not require restarting the client or proxy core.

Showing a card does not change the proxy. These steps only adjust the Home layout. They require no administrator privileges and no changes to subscriptions, proxy mode, or System Proxy. If saving produces an error or the dialog does not return normally, do not assume the change was saved. Keep the error message; do not repeatedly click Save or delete the configuration.

To return to your previous, simpler layout, follow the same path, clear Traffic Stats Card, and save. Hiding the card only hides the readings; it does not turn off the proxy.

Does a zero reading mean the node has failed?

A single zero does not establish a node failure. The live rate may return to zero when no data is being transferred or a request has finished. In this version, missing data or a read error can also fall back to zero. Seeing the card and receiving valid live data are therefore separate checks.

First confirm that you are looking at upload or download speed, not a cumulative amount. Then consider whether your normal access still works and whether a specific error is shown. If pages open normally and the figure occasionally returns to zero, repeated speed tests are unnecessary. If a connection or data error appears as well, keep the original message rather than interpreting zero alone as an expired subscription or failed node.

The Uploaded and Downloaded totals should not be used to reconcile your provider’s remaining allowance. This guide does not promise when those totals reset, and they are not a bill. Check your provider’s own records for plan usage; this card helps you understand the transfers reported by the current core.
