Make sure you are using Clash Verge Rev, not a language patch

An English interface does not mean you need to download a Chinese edition. Clash Verge Rev includes both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. You can select either from its own language menu without replacing program files or importing your subscriptions again.

This guide covers the actively maintained Clash Verge Rev v2.5.6 official release on Windows 11, for x64 or ARM64. The client must already be installed and able to open its main window. The starting point is the English interface, with the resulting Chinese labels shown alongside it. Clash for Windows, the original Clash Verge, and FlClash are different clients: their menus and language patches are not interchangeable. Startup failures are outside this guide.

If you are unsure which version is running, open Settings and look for Verge Version in the Verge Advanced Setting group. Once you have checked the version, continue with the language setting. Changing menu text does not require a core replacement, a reinstall, or an installer update. The instructions were checked against the fixed-version implementation; screenshots from other versions are not used as evidence for this one.

Find Language in the English interface and choose Chinese

First note the current selection, such as English, so you know which option to restore later. Navigation can be collapsed or reordered, so locate the entry by name rather than relying on a fixed position in the window.

  1. Open Settings. Its Simplified Chinese page label is 「设置」.
  2. Find the Verge Basic Setting group and its Language row. Verge Basic Setting is a section heading, not an extra submenu to open.
  3. Open the selector showing the current language. Choose 简体中文 for Simplified Chinese or 繁體中文 for Traditional Chinese. The options use these names in the menu; do not look for a separate Chinese patch or a download button.
  4. Let the selection finish processing, check for errors, and observe whether the settings labels have changed. Avoid rapidly switching back and forth. There is no separate Save or Apply button for this setting.

Selecting a language changes the interface dynamically and saves the application preference. When the operation succeeds, you do not need to restart Clash Verge Rev, its proxy core, or Windows. You also do not need to enable the system proxy or TUN to download Chinese translations. This setting does not require changes to your nodes, ports, or network configuration.

There is no Follow system language option in this version. The v2.5.6 language menu lists specific languages. The system-following option for the theme on the same page is a different setting. A new configuration chooses an initial language based on the system locale, but an existing saved choice and startup cache do not continuously follow changes to the Windows language.

Check that the new language remains selected

Check the labels on the settings page, then leave the page and return to confirm that 「语言设置」 still shows your chosen value. Check again when you next start the client normally. Seeing Chinese immediately proves that the interface changed, not that every save operation succeeded. If a save error also appeared, investigate it rather than assuming the preference was fully written.

Node names, subscription notes, and configuration fields are not automatically translated by this setting. Names supplied by your provider may remain in English, as will technical YAML fields such as proxy-groups and rules. Judge the change using the application's own settings labels, not the language of a node name.

A few English technical terms are different from a largely blank page, untranslated resource keys, or an explicit error. If you encounter those problems, keep the exact message and record the version and selected language. Do not overwrite language files from an unknown source. This guide verifies the built-in switching procedure; it does not promise that every string in every release has a complete translation.

Return to English or recover from a mistaken selection

To return from Simplified Chinese to English, open 「设置 → Verge 基础设置 → 语言设置」 and select English. Wait for processing to finish and check the page labels. To switch between the two Chinese variants, choose 简体中文 or 繁體中文 from the same selector. Reinstallation is unnecessary.

If you accidentally selected another language, use these exact interface labels to find the same setting. The language options themselves retain the names English, 简体中文, and 繁體中文, regardless of the current interface language.

Current interface languageSettings page → group → language row
Traditional Chinese設定 → Verge 基礎設定 → 語言設定
Japanese設定 → Verge基本設定 → 言語設定
Korean설정 → Verge 기본 설정 → 언어

If selection produces an error, or the old language returns at a later startup, first confirm that you opened the same Clash Verge Rev instance and version, then check the actual selected value. A save failure does not guarantee that the window, tray, and local file all return to the same previous state. Select the original language through the same menu, confirm that no error appears, and check whether it remains selected. If it still fails, report the error text to the project and redact subscription details and personal information from screenshots.

Do not delete the configuration directory or install an unofficial language patch to change the interface. Neither is required and both may affect your existing subscriptions or settings. You do not need to disable security software, reinstall with administrator privileges, or edit the registry. If the app cannot open at all, resolve that startup problem before attempting to use its language menu.
